485 (Quinton & Harborne) Squadron is one of many units which make up the Air Training Corps. The Air Training Corps (ATC) is one of the UK's largest youth organisations with over 40,000 cadets attending nearly 900 units.  The standard unit size is normally 30 or so cadets which comprises a Squadron.

In Warwick and Birmingham there are 27 Squadrons. There are five more Wings regionally which, in turn belong to the Six Regions of the Corps. As one of these units, 485 (Quniton & Harborne) Squadron is part of Warwickshire & Birmingham Wing, which is part of Central and East Region.

Every Squadron in the Corps is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who are both uniformed and non-uniformed. The Squadron is greatly supported and funds are raised by the Squadron civilian committee, who are a professional and dedicated group of volunteers who's work is vital to squadrons.

Cadets can participate in many activities, including Flying, Gliding, Shooting, Adventure Training, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme, Sport, First Aid, Radio and many more.
